We're looking for a Copywriter to join the Brand Marketing team from our London hub.

At Simply Business, we’re passionate about supporting small businesses, landlords, and the self-employed. To us that means simplifying the experience of buying insurance – using tech and data to create seamless digital journeys.

But our support doesn’t end with insurance – last year, six million self-employed people and landlords in the UK visited our Knowledge centre. From breaking business news to tax return tips, the Knowledge centre has grown into a trusted resource for a crucial cross-section of the UK. 

We’re looking for a talented Copywriter to join our dynamic team – previously crowned ‘In-house Content Team of the Year’ at the UK Content Awards. 

Your impact will stretch beyond our content efforts – the Copy and Content team at Simply Business play a crucial role in empowering customer-facing projects right across the business. You'll develop and create content for our purpose-driven campaigns that have included our £25,000 Business Boost grant, and our Empowering Women in Business campaign with Baroness Karren Brady CBE. 
What you'll be doing:
  • writing compelling content aimed at small business owners and landlords, with a focus on producing news and guides for our highly successful Knowledge centre
  • delivering first-class copy on a wide variety of projects – from email campaigns and urgent customer comms, to landing pages and social posts 
  • making sure all copy is in line with our tone of voice, and acting as an ambassador for the Simply Business brand style
  • working to tight deadlines on multiple projects at a time
  • collaborating with and advising stakeholders on external comms best practice
  • sub-editing and proofreading other writers’ work
  • using data to help shape our editorial direction
  • devising content-focused data capture initiatives
  • suggesting new formats and tests to help elevate our content to the next level
  • working closely with our Marketing, Customer Insight, Product, and Commercial teams (and more) to help deliver our strategy and support wider business efforts
  • helping the team to drive continued business value from intelligent and effective content marketing 
  • We're looking for someone who is:
  • an impeccable writer with excellent spelling and grammar, able to QA your own work and others’
  • comfortable writing in a conversational tone of voice, with an emphasis on simplicity and plain English
  • experienced in working towards – and helping to define – project briefs
  • familiar with the principles of content marketing and lead generation, with a firm understanding of SEO
  • from a delivery-centric background, either through an agency/news desk role, or a fast-paced/multi-faceted in-house position 
  • familiar with measuring content success through key success metrics
  • proactive in contributing ideas to help shape our editorial calendar
  • able to drive projects and multi-task, prioritising according to business value
  • a team player, able to embrace the Simply Business values and working culture
  • familiar with UX principles, with an understanding of the way users consume different types of content
  • familiar with the small business and landlord audience – a bonus but not essential
